Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 11, 2026Moodly ("we", "us") is a mood journal with a companion character: you check in with how you feel, write small notes, talk with Moodly, and keep gentle habits like water and goals. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- What you log. Mood check-ins, daily notes (and photos you attach to them), goals, water logs, reminders, and your weekly aura are stored on our servers, tied to your account, so they sync and stay safe.
- Talk conversations. When you talk with Moodly, your messages (and recent context such as your latest check-ins and notes) are sent to our AI processing partner (fal.ai) to generate Moodly's reply. Conversations are saved to your account so you can revisit them.
- Account info. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or use Moodly anonymously. We store an account identifier and, if you sign in, the name and email your provider shares. Sign-in tokens are verified on our servers.
- Usage data. In-app events (e.g. a check-in completed) tied to your account identifier, used to understand and improve the product. Stored in our own database; not sold or shared with ad networks.
- Purchases. Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. We never see or store your card details — payment is handled by Apple.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) plus timezone and locale so reminders arrive at sensible local times.
What we don't do
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). If this ever changes, we will ask for permission first via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use your moods, notes, or conversations to train AI models.
Processors
Apple (payments, sign-in) · Google (sign-in, cloud infrastructure — our servers and storage run on Google Cloud in the EU; push notifications via Firebase) · fal.ai (AI replies and weekly aura) · RevenueCat (subscriptions). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Storage & retention
Your data is stored on Google Cloud (EU region) and kept until you delete it or delete your account. Usage events and request logs are retained for product analytics and abuse prevention.
Your rights
You can delete notes, goals, and your profile photo in the app. To erase everything, use Delete account in the app's settings — it permanently removes your account and all associated data. For a copy of your data, or any question, contact tknappstudio@gmail.com — we respond within 30 days. Moodly is not directed at children under 13.
A note on wellbeing
Moodly is a companion, not a medical or therapy tool, and its AI does not give medical advice. Your moods and notes are private to you; we don't diagnose, score, or judge.
Changes
We'll update this page when the policy changes; material changes will be noted in the app.
